Welcome to my blog! My name is Mikaue Neves Britt and I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of five, my family relocated to an island in the south called Florianopolis where I spent my younger years growing up.
After graduating college with a degree in hotel management, I had the fortunate opportunity to spend some time traveling around the world. Looking back now, I know that I had visited some of the coolest places on earth including French Polynesia, Indonesia, Thailand, Eastern Europe, Chile (including Easter Island), Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica and so on… Traveling is where I began to understand and realize for myself that living simple gave space to breath. It is about finding joy in the simple things which life has to offer, when less is more and being content with solitude, quietness, contemplating each and every chance that life gives us by enjoying each moment to the fullest.
Not too long after I graduated college, I began working and living in the offshore oil rig drilling industry. Yes, drill ships! It was here where I had the chance to meet tons of interesting people (including my husband who was working on the same rig I was), visiting different places, enjoying unique and crazy foods all while living the best life.
Now I am living in South Florida with my husband Dane and together we have a handsome and smart little boy named Kai. We hope to continue sharing our simple yet fulfilled lives together and focus on all the wonderful joys life has to offer.
Living a simple life is not necessarily about acquiring less materialistically or giving away what you have; rather it is about living the life that is right for YOU. Only you can remove such “things” (tangible or intangible) which are no longer relevant to YOUR happiness. To focus on what matters and move away from the thoughts which no longer suit your needs.
